Mahidol University specializes in the health sciences, with various medical research programs and treatment innovations, and provides knowledge about health to the Thai people. Each year, the University produces many medical graduates, such as doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff. Mahidol University operates 8 hospitals providing healthcare services for all diseases. Between 2020 – 2021, the hospitals treated 11,766,282 outpatients, 284,931 inpatients, and 1,094,908 dental patients. Mahidol also supported medical treatment fees of 4,213,371,169.45 baht for poor patients, to reduce inequality and increase access to medical care. Mahidol University has a variety of specialized disease centers, such as a Stroke Center, Kidney Center, and Cancer Center. The University has driven many projects to promote a healthy lifestyle and organized educational events and conferences about various diseases, such as the activities included in World AIDS Day, World Cancer Day, and World Obesity Day with the correct exercise programs and methods. Furthermore, Mahidol University has established Mahidol University’s Counseling Center, “MU Friends”, to provide mental-health counseling and other supports to students and the public. The Adolescent Clinic counsels young people about the teenage problems that arise as they enter adolescence, such as drug addiction and sex-related matters. The University also provides sports facilities and fitness centers for students and staff. Mahidol University is a smoke-free university that participates in a campaign to educate people about the negative impacts of smoking and persuade people to stop smoking for better health. Mahidol University is a leader and role model in the ASEAN University Network -Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN), for the purpose of health promotion in the ASEAN region, sharing knowledge, skills and resources to develop innovative solutions to common health challenges in the region.

Promoting physical activity in schools seems like an easy task. However, from the situational data on the physical activity of Thai children and youth, it has been pointed out that various obstacles and threats are preventing them from being able to do physical activities that are suitable for them. In order to see “all students are given the opportunity and are able to perform quality and sufficient physical activity opportunities,” there must be systematic tools to promote, design, and play relevant policies and activities. Therefore, a system management tool is needed to support the design and planning of policies and activities that will allow schools to seamlessly integrate physical activity promotion activities into policy and learning activities that do not increase the workload for the school and teachers on duty.

Net PAMA (Parental Management)

The Net PAMA Project disseminates parenting knowledge through multiple channels to reach both parents who are comfortable using online platforms and those living in remote areas. These include online registration and access to both comprehensive and accelerated lessons via the project’’s main website (www.netpama.com), as well as various social media platforms: Facebook (posting articles, parenting tips, and activity updates), YouTube (instructional videos on positive parenting techniques and workshop activities), and LINE Official Account (providing advice and important announcements for parents). The project also organizes workshops for interested parents and community activities.

Interfaith Buddy for Peace: The Weavers of Peace and Harmony in Thai Society

Interfaith Buddy for Peace: The Weavers of Peace and Harmony in Thai Society project applies dialogues as the start to bring trust and harmony and to ultimately bring peace to the three southern border provinces of Thailand where there are still deep-rooted conflicts in with different thoughts, beliefs, ideology, and culture. This is one of the projects receiving Mahidol University’s social guiding policy driving fund to promote research which leads to social guiding by applying healthcare to build trust and lead to concrete relationship weaving. Lessons learned were extracted and offered as peace and harmony policies in Thai society by applying 40 sub-seminar field tools in six southern border provinces. There were 170 people in attendance. The researcher used interview techniques and created sub-discussions in the areas to build understanding, to weave relationships and trust. Discussions were used to add trust and initiate a cross-religion relationship. Public stages were used to create more empathy, more understanding, and bonding across the communities, expanding network for people to take care of one another, as well as design the communities to exchange their experiences through their suffering and loss before becoming friends who support each other in aspects, including healthcare, especially during COVID-19 pandemic. This could bring mobilization opportunities for friends of different religions to handle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Automated Framework for AI Federated Learning in Medical Imaging

The “Automated Framework for AI Federated Learning in Medical Imaging” is designed to utilize chest X-ray image data and diagnoses from various medical institutions to train deep learning models in a federated framework without exchanging medical image data between the institutions. This approach ensures privacy and security while still enabling collaborative learning. The resulting federated learning model achieves high accuracy by learning from multiple datasets. Furthermore, the global model can be employed to establish a centralized system providing support to medical institutions lacking their own AI systems.

The development of health promotion model and income generation for the older adults at the day care center is the creation area for older adults to do activities together every Monday to Friday. There is a working group mechanism in day care center management. There are volunteer teachers to create 12 learning bases and there is a day care center fund for the older adults to support the budget for organizing activities
