Quality Education

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Mahidol University provides the opportunity for everyone to access all educational levels. Ratchasuda College offers programs for hearing-impaired students to enble them to work for a living. The Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital offers a Bachelor of Science program in Communication Disorders to produce specialists in rehabilitation for people with communication disabilities. The University also provides more than 300 scholarships for poor and vulnerable persons. In addition, various academic and research activities for sustainable community development use efficient resource management to promote social equality and a better quality of life. While Mahidol University focuses strongly on the health sciences, it also provides support to other subject areas. The Asian Language and Culture Research Institute, for example, has conducted research with 25 ethnicities since 2004, to create the "Mahidol Model for Endangered Languages and Cultural Revitalization”. This innovation helps restore and develop mother tongues/local languages for the creation of literature, recording the knowledge using the local language, and the educational development of children and youth in various forms with mother-tongue languages and local wisdom as a base. The Model was awarded the world-class UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize in 2016. Subsequently, it has been applied in the ethnic digital repository project to promote the preservation of linguistic and cultural diversity. This has led to a bilingual and multi-lingual learning project, which enables ethnic groups to study equally, while preserving their mother tongues/ local languages. Mahidol University also focuses on the quality of education with its policy to drive the international accreditation/certification of its curricula. The University has achieved the highest number of international accreditations in Thailand, with a total of 54 programs. These comprise 24 programs from ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), 9 from Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), 6 from Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), 5 from Music Quality Enhancement (MusiQuE), 3 from International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO), 2 from World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), 2 from Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), 1 from Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH), 1 from United Nation World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO.TedQual), and 1 from World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT). International accreditation means that these programs are guaranteed for quality and accepted worldwide for further studies and careers at international institutions. In addition, it is an important factor for student decision-making when choosing their preferred educational institution. All of these policies demonstrate that Mahidol University places great importance on education that considers equality of access to quality education and support for lifelong learning opportunities. The University’s strategic plan is to improve courses for students and fulfil the nation’s needs by producing graduates who are Global Citizens with Global Talents.
