The MU-JHU NCDs Research Collaborative Center has initiated the short course training program entitled “Fundamentals for Implementing a Hypertension Program in Resource-Constrained Settings” for healthcare providers (i.e. nurses, physicians, pharmacists, and community health workers) within WHO SEARO. The course description is to describe the fundamentals of hypertension management clinic- and community-based settings and discuss the current state-of-science and strategy for hypertension management specifically to resource-constrained settings. This course consists of six modules through online and live-talk sessions (i.e. workshop, group discussion, journal club, and case study) including
Module 1: Fundamentals of Hypertension
Module 2: Basics of Hypertension Diagnosis and Management
Module 3: Clinic-Based Hypertension Management
Module 4: Community-Based Hypertension Management
Module 5: Medication Supply to Improve Blood Pressure Control
Module 6: Improving Operational Effectiveness in Hypertension Programs.
The duration of this course is two weeks (30 hours).
Objectives:
1) To update the current state of science in hypertension management
2) To discuss the opportunities and important priorities for hypertension management in resource-constrained settings
3) To exchange knowledge among healthcare providers within WHO SEARO
Location: Online meeting via Zoom
The project held between April 19-27, 2023. Participants was 25 nurses Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Maldives, Bhutan, and Timor-Leste. After the program, participants will develop a systematic review and research to improve hypertension within WHO SEARO region together.
