The Royal Scholarship under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Education Project to the Kingdom of Cambodia was established from the royal aspirations of King Kanitthathiraj Chao HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's Department to develop a quality education system for Cambodian youth as a lasting gift to the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia who has been friends for a long time. This precious gift is the entire education system. There resulted in an educational organization with the teaching and learning dual system, which is the prototype of today's teaching and learning. In addition, Her Highness is concerned about the students' health, emphasizing that good education must go hand-in-hand with students' good hygiene.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's Department to develop a quality education system for Cambodian youth under the supervision of the Royal Guard Department Ministry of Defense and the steering committee of the Royal Assistance Program to the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by cooperation with Mahidol University and the Mahidol University's affiliate from Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital (Ramathibodi School of Nursing), Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Engineering, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University International College and College of Music to provide scholarships to students from the Kingdom of Cambodia to study at the diploma level undergraduate and master's degree at Mahidol University Since the academic year 2013.

 

The Royal Scholarship under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Education Project to the Kingdom of Cambodia has been ongoing since 2011, initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's wish to develop a quality education system for Cambodian youth as a gift to Cambodian people, considered as Her Royal Highness’ longtime friends. Accordingly, general and vocational education systems and dual-system schools have emerged. In addition, Her Royal Highness was concerned about students' health, so she emphasized that good education must go along with good hygiene. Implementing the past projects has resulted in good relations and cooperation between the Kingdom of Thailand and Cambodia in both the private and public sectors. As a result, more than 800 qualified new-generation workers who have received royal grants have gradually returned to develop the country, thus confirming that this project is a genuinely sustainable royal gift.

 

On September 16, 2021, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously granted an audience to representatives of Thai higher educational institutions including administrators, faculty members, and students of the royal scholarship under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Education Project to the Kingdom of Cambodia, gathering to report on the results of the royal scholarship project.

 

H.E. Ouk Sorphorn, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Thailand, paid respects to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, General Vichit Yathip, chairman of the project, respectfully reported the operation results, and General Atikom Suksomsathan marshaled the administrators, faculty members and students of the royal scholarships from the year 2018 - 2021, attending to pay tributes to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn through an online platform, from the meeting room at Sa Pathum Palace.

 

On behalf of the Mahidol University,  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yajai Sitthimongkol, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing along with Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poolsuk Janepanish visudtibhan, Director of Ramathibodi School of Nursing from the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital led the faculty administrators and students of the Royal scholarships from Mahidol University to attend the audience via the online system by gathering at Multipurpose Room 411, Mahidol Learning Center, Mahidol University, Salaya.
