Amnat Chaoren province recognizes and attaches importance to the conservation of medical plants. Therefore, together with Amnat Charoen Campus, Mahidol university operates according to the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn which has been in operation since 1992. There are more than 167 community forest networks in the province of Amnat Charoen, representing a total of 36,280 rai of community forests to enable people to understand the importance of preserving the plant genes in Thailand. Plant varieties are developed to benefit the Thai people. Amnat Charoen Campus, Mahidol university can carry out local plant genetic diversity survey and create a database to educate forest conservation, utilization and preservation of community forest together with the public sector, Hak Pang Pha club and related authority such as Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment Amnat Charoen, Amnat Charoen Provincial Administrative Organization, Royal Forest Department, Non-Nam-Tang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Amnat Charoen Provincial Education Office.

Amnat Charoen Campus, Mahidol university focuses and drives the work on plant genetic conservation that is the place of operations with Hak pang pha club, Amnat Charoen. This club operated and connected people living around the community forest. There is continuous data collection, create a variety of information systematically for community development which owns local resources to have knowledge, skill, participate in conservation and take advantage of their local natural resources with the application of modern geographic technology to explore and integrate data into concrete use and conservation. This will be an important part in increasing the potential of the community and raising awareness, causing cherishment of natural resources and environment. Then, determinate the area of plant genetic protection. Therefore, surveying and studying genetic diversity of plants are another way to help know existence of local plants or rare plants. The data from the survey will be studied to identify the classification type, create subtitles and taxonomy in an international format. Information can be utilized, planned, conserved and further developed in areas such as medicinal properties, nutritional value, etc., to increase the economic value of the community, promote the conservation, and sustainable use of plant genetic diversity.
